Sometimes you get a fever, break into a sweat, feel anxious and it can’t seem to shake it. It could be in the office, stuck in traffic, slaving over a hot stove or trying to convince your self to get out of bed. The Weekend bug is in full effect and it’s hard to know what to do. Perhaps a Techness Shot can provide this remedy. This compilation represents the current merging and morphing of the house scene, whether it’s Tech-house, techno, Progressive, Trouse or just plain House. Techness Shot explores the movement from main rooms at a super club to filthy underground boiler rooms. Two of Melbourne’s prominent rising DJ’s team up to provide you with their distinct takes on the genre. The first disc takes the listener straight to the front of the dance-floor of the countries favourite clubs, with some of the biggest club hits currently doing the rounds. The second disc shows us the scenes underbelly, an underground techier feel taking the listener from a bouncy tech house bar all the way to a 7AM pumping Techno session. Techness Shot can expand the horizons of House music and provides instant relief doe unwanted symptoms. Take only as directed and if problems persist see your DJ.

Frazer Adnam

Lets just say the last two years have been a Jam-packed schedule for Melbourne’s own party boy, Frazer Adnam. Frazers blend of Bigroom & Tech saw him perform in Miami for the Winter Music Conference in 2011, and the notorious Oasis Pool Party @ Spring break in Cancun. Back home, Frazer also suited up at Just about every one of Australia’s major music festivals, including Future Music festival, Stereosonic & Summadayze & Creamfields Melbourne, & Holds Residencies Around the city, Include Melbourne’s most notorious Saturday, Billboard the venue.

Jimmy le Mac

Jimmy le Mac, techno/tech-house DJ and producer, originally from the heart of the UK, now resides in Melbourne, Australia. Since starting his musical career in 2003, he has dabbled in various genres, learning as much as he can from the electronic music spectrum, to bring him towards a current focus on his stylish rhythmic techno sound.

In 2011, Jimmy le Mac & FLIP3k started ‘Loophole Recordings’; a record label aimed to promote the work of themselves, and a growing list of talented producers that Melbourne and the rest of Australia has to offer, over a wide range of styles and sounds. The label is celebrating its 1st birthday in August with nine releases under its belt.

Loopholes tenth release is from another debut artist, this time from Sydney. Eddie Coulter burst onto Sydney’s EDM scene in 2005 with a distinctive house sound playing main room sets at Home, The Chinese Laundry and Tank. A guest appearance at Tank for Defected In The House, caught Alan Thompson’s attention and lead to a 5 year residency at Tank for DTPM. Eddie soon found himself behind the decks at some of Sydney’s biggest event’s including Sydney Mardi Gras and Sleaze Ball, gaining residencies like The White Party at Ivy and Saturday Fucking Night at Nevermind. Currently holding residencies at Arq, The Midnight Shift, The Beresford Hotel and The Bank Hotel Eddie Coulter is not slowing down.

‘Night Light’ is a back to basics, no-nonsense progressive house dance floor driver. With a bass line that could move a dance floor at any time of the night, coupled with feel good melodies, his track lends well to crates for DJs playing to a variety of crowds. Luke Meader delivers a tough remix on the flip, and turns the feel good melodies of the originals into a epic emotional build up leading to a blissful coast through the melodies and groove. The mixes together make a very solid package leading up to summer vibes rolling into the end of the year.

Closing in on the 1^st birthday of the label, Loophole’s 9^th release showcases a brand new talent from Melbourne. Sekkt is the musical ‘bastard child’ of multi-instrumentalists Pavlov, Tija & Lenky, and has created a devilish blend of the subsonic with the harmonic - techno with funk, house with world music. Combining the best of electronic and live music, Sekkt is replete with heaving bass, deep rhythms, funkadelic horns and electrified keys. Add to that a slice of inspired originality, a dollop of mayhem, a dash of psychadelia and a pinch of voodoo. Always expect a good time, bring your dancing feet and rest assured, Sekkt’s genome is continually evolving.

‘First Light’ offers a deep driving techno track with an addictive lead synth that slowly builds to captivate the dancefloor. This track has a real classic techno vibe to it, with a deep and irresistibly smooth groove, that will excite punters of all realms, having the energy lift any club set, or bliss out a festival crowd. This track is to be featured on the fourth-coming compilation album ‘Techness Shot’ released in August on Velcro Records. On the remix tip is Loophole’s very own Jimmy le Mac. The remix steps away from the deep hypnotising vibe of the original and offers a dancefloor friendly bass-house remix. Jimmy’s interpretation of this rings true to his own style as well as sparing no part of the original in order to make it accessible to a very wide audience with a sultry sub heavy sound to captivate floors, radios and clubs everywhere.

The next instalment from Loophole returns us to our good friend Luke Meader. Since his debut EP almost a year ago, Luke has been busy working on a handful of remixes for the likes of Crystal Guns, Jimmy le Mac and Smile On Impact as well as working on a stack of original material. Luke brings his first new single from these works; ‘Obsoleet Speak’

‘Obsoleet Speak’ is a deep journey of emotion, spacious synths and warm bass progression with a contagious melody that is easy to get lost in. On the remix tip we have a new face to Loophole Recordings, Sydney DJ and producer Eddie Coulter. Eddie caught Loophole’s attention with his support of previous releases and enthusiasm to be involved with the label. Having heard a few tracks of his own it was obvious he would be perfect to remix ‘Obsoleet Speak’, and he stepped up with a solid tech house remix that encapsulates the journey of the original, while sprinkling his own style over it.

LHR007 – Muska (AUS) ‘Filthy Language EP’

To celebrate Loophole’s first birthday in July we have put together a debut single from local Techno hero Muska. Renowned in Melbourne and Australia for hosting and supporting the biggest parties and DJ’s, Muska’s heart beats for Melbourne’s electronic music scene. Muska has supported basically every major techno touring act in Melbourne over the past few years, playing at parties such as Electric Owl, Darkbeat, The Likes Of You, Sunny, Lucky Coq Saturday nights, a large list of summer Festivals; Strawberry Fields & Subsonic just to name a couple, and his own party concept Mixed Messages. On top of this the talented jock manages to fit in regular national tours.

Muska has hosted & supported internationals such as: Lutzenkirchen / Tomcraft / Worthy / Chris Fortier / Stephen Bodzin / Ewan Pearson / Style Of Eye / Dave Spoon / Proxy / Mark Romboy / Daniel Steinberg / Thomas Schumacher / Silicon Soul / Slam / Oxia / DeadMau5 to name just a few.

For his debut release, he’s given us an insight into two of the many sides of his musical persona. Filthy language is a massive four to the floor stomper, filled with dark energy and enormous brooding bass that would destroy club and outdoor dancefloors alike. My pet spider hits the deeper side of techno, combining unforgiving glitches with a rolling beat to give a very rolling atmospheric journey. We’re very excited to share Muska’s debut release on Loophole with you.

Loophole Recordings present their second release of the year showcasing a debut single from Melbourne band ‘Crystal Guns’. The single ‘How Does It Feel’ is an awesome combination of gritty guitars, dancefloor beats and superb vocals. The band have managed to create a unique crossover indie/breakbeat sound, taking a strong influence from the Stone Roses yet providing their own unique modern style.

The second part of the release contains 6 remixes from established Loophole artists Smile on Impact, Jimmy le Mac, Luke Meader and What Now? Also on the remix EP are Strontium Music’s label owner Youthful Implants giving us his trademark dancefloor breaks sound and Mexico’s finest Neztic, after mastering the original track from Loophole, he liked it so much he offered to provide a remix for the release.

FLIP is a DJ from Melbourne, Australia, known best for playing breakbeats, mixed with the best in techno, electro, progressive and anything else that gets people moving..! He has been playing for the last 7 years in Melbourne, across the city’s most infamous bars and clubs, starting his career with a weekly residency at the Friday night party destination that was St.Jerome’s. He runs his own night - JUICYLOOPS - returning very soon from a brief hiatus, in CBD venue TBA. He is also a leader of Melbourne Monster crew ROCK LIKE THIS, who throw massive local breakbeats and bass music parties as well as tour international acts regularly around Melbourne. The third EP from Loophole recordings, showcases work from label heads themselves, Jimmy Le Mac & Flip3k under the moniker What Now?, churning out 2 very different breakbeat monsters. The first track, Jack Attack, titled after its dark and sinister vocals, is a stomping dark progressive break, with deep wobbling bass to match the vocal samples and build up to an epically powerful breakdown, and back up to a dance floor smashing beat on the drop. Attention Shoppers, delivers a much different vibe on the flip, from the word go, with the rude air horn at the start of the beat to establish it’s a much more fun light hearted track. Very sample heavy, it bounces through its range of rising synth loops and energetic basslines to match. All the elements of this track would make it very hard to avoid busting a move to, and the variety of style in the tracks on the EP make it a very solid package.
